About Delta

Delta staples are listed in the Seza Global catalogue for wholesale supply: industrial series, office staples and carton closing staples. Choosing a staple comes down to a single code — 80/12 and the like — and that code says both which gun it fits and how thick a material it will hold.

The first number is the series: crown width and wire thickness, and a gun accepts only its own. The 13 series is fine wire with a narrow crown, for upholstery and light timber work. The 80 series is general purpose and carries the widest range of lengths here. The 100 and 200 series use heavier wire for thicker sections and higher holding power.

The second number is the leg length in millimetres. The rule of thumb is about three times the thickness of the material being fixed: the remainder enters the base material and provides the hold. Too long and it comes through the far side; too short and it will not hold. Keeping several lengths of one series in stock means one gun covers several thicknesses.

For office staplers, 24/6 and No:10 are the two common sizes, and the size a stapler takes is printed on the machine. Carton closing staples are different again: wide crown, heavy wire, holding corrugated board without crushing it and gripping heavy boxes better than tape.
