A yard broom is an outdoor broom with thick, stiff plastic bristle. Because the bristle is thick it reaches into the texture of a rough floor: it moves debris, leaves, gravel and coarse dust across concrete slabs, block paving, asphalt and bare ground. An indoor broom lies flat on that surface in short order; this one does not. It is used on sites, in warehouses, car parks, gardens and industrial yards, and it works on a wet floor — the bristle does not take up water. The head width is chosen by the area: a narrow head turns between racking and in tight corridors, a wide head sweeps more ground per pass in the open. The handle is bought separately and screws into the threaded socket in the head.
