A flap disc is overlapping abrasive leaves on an angle grinder. What separates it from a grinding wheel is that a fresh leaf comes through as the face wears, so the cutting rate stays constant through the disc's life: a wheel goes blunt, a flap disc simply gets smaller. The grain is zirconia. Size 180. 20 per box. 80-120 grit is the medium band: it takes out the coarse scratch and prepares the surface for primer.
