Werka DIN371/C HSS-E 35° Spiral Flute Machine Tap

Taps cut internal threads. The standard (DIN371, 376, 374, 2181, 352, 5156 ...) sets the shank and length, the thread type (metric, fine, UNC, UNF, BSP, NPT, PG) the profile. A straight flute tap is for through holes and short-chipping material, a 35° spiral flute tap for blind holes because it lifts the chip out; a forming tap shapes the thread without cutting chips. HSS-E, cobalt steel and TiN and TiCN coatings extend life in difficult material. This family comes in 11 options: M2 x 0.4, M2.5 x 0.45, M3 x 0.5, M3.5 x 0.6, M4 x 0.7, M4.5 x 0.75, M5 x 0.8, M6 x 1, M7 x 1, M8 x 1.25, M10 x 1.5.
