A cutting-in brush draws the line where wall meets ceiling, wall meets frame or one colour meets another — the strip the roller has to leave behind. The Lux series carries a fuller, longer-lasting bristle block than the Eco series. A fuller block holds more paint per load, so there are fewer trips to the pot and the line comes out in one pass, and it does not shed bristles into the wet film. It is the series chosen for long jobs and for finish work where the paint is seen close up. The number is the width of the brush: a small number is for narrow surfaces, edges and corners, a large number covers more area in the same time. A job is usually run with two numbers rather than one — the wide one for the field, the narrow one to finish the edges.
