Product details

Manual metal arc (MMA) welding carries the filler metal and its protective slag cover in a single stick, so no gas cylinder and no wire feeder are needed — which is why it remains the most widely used process on site, outdoors and in repair and maintenance work. The covering type sets the character of the weld: a rutile covering gives easy arc striking and a smooth bead, while a basic covering produces low-hydrogen deposits that resist dynamic loading and cracking. ENi 404 (Mo) is a cast iron welding electrode with a monel (nickel-copper) core, classified AWS A5.15 ENiCu-B / EN ISO 1071 E C NiCu-B 3. It is used for hot welding of grey, malleable and nodular (SG) cast iron and for joining grey cast iron to steel; typical work is joining or building up broken and worn castings and repairing casting or machining defects. The weld metal matches the parent metal in colour and can be filed or machined. Arc striking and re-striking are very easy. In cast iron, welding stress is what causes cracking: run short beads of roughly 30-50 mm and peen each one before it cools. This pack holds 50 electrodes measuring 2.50 x 300 mm — the diameter for thin-walled castings and narrow crack repairs.
