Product details

Manual metal arc (MMA) welding carries the filler metal and its protective slag cover in a single stick, so no gas cylinder and no wire feeder are needed — which is why it remains the most widely used process on site, outdoors and in repair and maintenance work. The covering type sets the character of the weld: a rutile covering gives easy arc striking and a smooth bead, while a basic covering produces low-hydrogen deposits that resist dynamic loading and cracking. EI 308L is a rutile-type electrode depositing austenitic stainless weld metal, classified AWS A5.4 E308L-16 / EN ISO 3581-A E 19 9 L R 12 (DIN material no. 1.4316). It suits low-carbon Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steels, chromium-bearing heat-resisting steels and cast steels, and is used on tanks, equipment and linings in the chemical, food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries as well as on steam valves and piping. Its low carbon content makes the deposit good for continuous service to 350 °C and scaling resistant to 800 °C. It welds on both AC and DC, strikes and re-strikes easily, and the slag lifts readily. This box holds 60 electrodes of 3.25 mm — the diameter used for fill passes on stainless tanks, piping and equipment.
