Sizes, Reflector Count and End Caps
A rubber speed bump is a modular system: body sections join along the road width and an end cap closes each side so vehicles meet the run at an angle. The same product therefore builds a three-metre car park crossing or a full-width road installation.
The number of reflectors on the body sets night-time visibility; we list bodies with 2, 4, 6 and 8 reflectors alongside plain, reflective and cat's-eye end caps. For sites with surface cable runs, 2, 3 and 5 channel cable protectors are listed in the same group.
- 30x33 and 30x50 cm: narrow crossings, indoor yards, gate approaches
- 40x50 and 50x50 cm: common sizes for car parks, private roads and factory yards
- 60x50 and 90x50 cm: wider ramp profile for heavy vehicle crossings
- End caps close both ends of the run and stop wheels catching the edge
- Reflective and cat's-eye caps strengthen the night-time warning
Installation and Applications
Fixing is by lag screw and anchor into asphalt or concrete, and the system can be lifted and reinstalled elsewhere, which suits temporary site layouts. Because rubber absorbs impact, crossings are quieter and produce less vibration than plastic alternatives.
Speed bumps are made for low-speed zones: private roads, car parks, factory and logistics yards, hospital and school surroundings, campus roads. Where movement must be one-way, such as a car park exit, trap-type bumps are used instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many sections do I need for a given road width?
Sections join side by side to reach the length you need. Divide the road width by the section width (50 cm, for example) to get the count, then add one end cap for each side. Send us your project dimensions and our sales team will help with the quantity plan.
How is a rubber speed bump installed?
It is fixed to asphalt or concrete with lag screws and anchors. Sections are aligned and marked on the surface, holes are drilled, bodies are tightened down and end caps close both sides. The installation is removable, so the run can be rebuilt if the site layout changes.
Rubber or plastic — which suits my site?
Rubber absorbs impact better, lasts longer under heavy traffic and is quieter to cross, which suits roads in constant use. Plastic is more economical and fits light traffic and temporary installations.
Are end caps and cable protectors sold separately?
Yes. End caps (plain, reflective and cat's-eye) and 2, 3 and 5 channel cable protectors are listed as separate items in this category, so you can order only bodies to extend a run, or only caps to refresh the ends.
