Manual Staple Guns
A manual staple gun drives staples by spring force; needing neither power nor air, it suits upholstery, packaging and light timber work. What matters is which staple series the gun accepts.

Staple type and leg length
Staples are defined by crown width and leg length, and each gun takes one series — another will not fit. Leg length follows material thickness: what you are fastening plus enough to bite into the substrate.
Thin fabric and foil need short legs; heavy upholstery fabric and chipboard need long ones. The wrong length leaves the staple proud or drives it straight through.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which staples should I use?
The series the gun accepts. Staples are defined by crown width and leg length, and other series will not fit. Leg length follows material thickness.
The staple is not seating fully — what now?
Most guns have an impact adjustment; beyond that, use shorter legs or a more powerful gun. In hardwood a manual gun can be at its limit.
Manual or electric staple gun?
Manual is enough for occasional, portable work. For all-day upholstery and packaging, an electric or pneumatic gun cuts fatigue markedly.
Can it drive brad nails too?
Some models accept brads as well as staples, and say so on the label. If it is not stated, use staples only.
